Design Goals
Address neighborhood scale flooding issues w/ passive rainwater harvesting design
Create a lush landscape using 100% native Tucson basin plants
Use active and passive rainwater harvesting to meet 100% of landscape water needs
Strategies
Direct runon into swale and basin systems that meander water throughout the entire site
Use 6" metal culverts, custom channel drains, and permeable fencing to move water under pathways and hardscapes
Convey all roof runoff to active rainwater harvesting tanks that are connected to a pump-fed irrigation system
Create natural rock groupings and plant hardy native trees, succulents, and shrubs that can thrive without irrigation once established
Apply a nutrient dense BioGravel (TM) surfacing that will help to retain moisture and build soil health
Apply a "restoration seed mix" that will introduce a large variety of native wildflowers, perennials, shrubs, and accents that will not need irrigation once germinated
